Trade bodies are maintaining an ‘information feed’ to both the perimeter protection and access control industries in a bid to keep abreast of the daily changes in circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak.
Both the Association of Fencing Industries (AFI) and the DHF representing those involved in automated gates and barriers were aiming to stream essential information (see below) to help companies grappling with the complexities of Government restrictions and advice.
With staff working remotely from homes, both organisations were anxious to maintain their advice services.
‘These are challenging times for our members and the industry as a whole,’ said Ian Ripley, CEO of AFI, ‘and we want to do our bit to assist. We are endeavouring to ensure that they get the correct and most up-to-date advice, but obviously the situation is changing almost daily.’
Both now have dedicated Coronavirus pages and have set up helplines for those with specific enquiries.
Bob Perry of the DHF said that staff were working ‘as hard as possible’ to get information into the industry.
‘It is imperative that they have the right information as soon as it is available.’

DHF believes this is now consistent with the latest PHE guidance and it also does make reference to that guidance when construction workers are required to work in people’s homes.

May 26th – AFI Advice Update – The online service for the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme has been launched today, enabling employers with fewer than 250 employees to apply to HMRC to recover the costs of paying coronavirus‐related SSP.
